Doctorate:
Doctor of Science, Inst. for Nuclear and Radiation Physics, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Nuclear Physics, summa cum laude, Belgium, 1978
Research Expertise:
Dr. Namavar's focus is on the development of novel concepts and technologies to maximize the lifetime of orthopaedic implants and minimize the possibility of wear and revision surgery. These innovations include the development of novel nanostructure materials for (i) friction and wear reduction, (ii) substrates for tissue engineering and enhancement of bone growth, and (iii) novel anti-bacterial coatings for short and long term applications of prosthetic devices.
