Virulence factor of Staphylococcus aureus structure and functionality
Dr. Toyin Asojo's research focuses on characterizing the structures and functions of virulence factors from S. aureus and other pathogens. Our long term goal is to contribute to the rational design of new drugs. Towards these ends we are developing methods to purify S. aureus proteins to solve their 3-D structures, as well as identify interactions and features that can be targeted for drug development.

Fighting antibiotic resistant infections (Asojo, Bayles, Fey)
This project is funded by the Department of Defense (DOD) and is primarily focused on the generation and characterization of a sequence-defined transposon insertion library in which all of the non-essential genes of S. aureus have been disrupted.
