Nuclear matrix is a non-chromatin fibril network structure which is believed to have supporting roles in RNA transcription, DNA replication and DNA repair. We hypothesize that the nuclear matrix is also involved in V(D)J recombination, the process which essentially contributes to a broad repertoire of immunoglobulin and T cell receptor in immune system. We are trying to show all the protein factors involved in V(D)J recombination are pre-assembled into a complex on the nuclear matrix, and the antigen receptor loci is "pulled into" the V(D)J recombination "factory" for processing.
