The UNMC Section of General Pediatrics exists to provide high quality pediatric education, health care, research, and community service.

The vision of UNMC's Section of General Pediatrics is to: 1) be a center of excellence in pediatric education for health professionals; 2) be an accessible health care resource and referral center for all children in the region; 3) provide compassionate, comprehensive, efficient, state-of-the-art health care for all children in the region; 4) be a leader in pediatric clinical research; and 5) be an advocate for all children.

UNMC's Section of General Pediatrics uses the following values to guide all its operations: 1) Teamwork: to work as a supportive team while maintaining individual values; 2) Communication: encourage open and effective communication; 3) Accountability: take pride in work and accept responsibility for both positive and negative outcomes; 4) Trust and Value Employees: promote respect for self and others; 5) Commitment to Staff Development: foster professional and personal growth by providing opportunities for education as well as frequent and honest evaluation; and 6) Responsive Leadership: leadership is empathetic and flexible to the needs of co-workers, patients, and their families.
