Enhanced Uptake and Transport of Nanoparticles for Therapy and Diagnosis

…………………………………………………………………………...

Technology Fields:  Drug Delivery

Product ID: 63270P

US Patents: Pending

Background

Nanoparticle technologies provide novel means to deliver diagnostic and therapeutic agents across cellular barriers. However, the extent of delivery for even nanoparticles can be limiting for various modes of dosing, calling for approaches to enhance nanoparticle delivery. The specific chemistry of a particular nanoparticle can greatly enhance or reduce its ability to move through various biological membranes.  Innovative research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center has led to the development of nanoparticles that exhibit high epithelial uptake and transepithelial transport.  This pharmaceutically relevant technology has multiple applications including noninvasive delivery of nanoparticles as well as any associated large or small molecule drugs, diagnostics, and imaging agents.

Features

  • Nanoparticle technologies
  • Noninvasive delivery of intact nanoparticles
  • Noninvasive delivery of macromolecules and other poorly permeable molecules
  • Enhanced delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic agents
  • Targeted delivery
  • Ocular delivery
  • Respiratory delivery

Benefits

  • Lower dosage requirements
  • Painless administration
  • Pharmaceutically relevant formulations
