Community Pharmacy Residency Program
The Community Pharmacy Residency Program is cosponsored by the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy, Deines Pharmacy, and Nishna Valley Pharmacy. The UNMC College of Pharmacy is located in Omaha, Nebraska; Deines Pharmacy is located in Beatrice, Nebraska; and Nishna Valley Pharmacy is located in Shenandoah, Iowa.
The fundamental goal of the Community Pharmacy Residency Program is to provide pharmacy graduates with the skills, behaviors and attitudes needed to effectively practice in the challenging and dynamic arena of community pharmacy, with emphasis on provision of patient-centered care in a rural setting.
Pharmacy Practice Residency Program
The Nebraska Medical Center pharmacy practice residency helps prepare competent and confident practitioners of pharmaceutical care in multiple health care environments. Residents develop skills in the education of other health-care professionals, patients and students. They also develop a professional practice that incorporates personal discipline, self-monitoring, continuous learning and a commitment to the profession.
Residents are valued members of our pharmaceutical teams. Residents participate in all aspects of our comprehensive pharmacy services including rounds with the medical teams, pharmacokinetic consultations, participation on the emergency cardiac arrest team and providing in-services to other health care professionals. Rotations are designed to integrate clinical practice, drug-use evaluation, drug information and teaching.
