Science Teacher Retreat, summer 2006
The University of Nebraska Medical Center's Rural Health Education Network (RHEN) sponsors a Science Teacher Retreat each summer. Teachers learn new science teaching methods and improve their inquiry skills in order to expand their science curriculum. Though a partnership with the Nebraska Department of Education and Educational Service Unit 10, the RHEN office provided a capstone program of 60 hours over a two-week period in summer 2006 for 17 high school science teachers from 16 rural Nebraska school districts. This workshop is a great opportunity in providing science experiences to Nebraska's rural teachers, as well as a chance to gain resources and learn from one another.
