Postdoctoral scholars are also required to attend the orientation sponsored by the office of Postdoctoral Education. This hour long orientation covers information on sponsored programs, intellectual properties, gives an overview of training opportunities and introduces postdocs to the valuable resources they have access to on campus. This program is held once a year in the spring.

The freshman UNMC postdoctoral scholars are required to attend a general orientation program conducted monthly by the Department of Human Resources. For a schedule and registration information go to the HR Employee Guidelines and then click on "N" for new employee orientation . The orientation provides valuable information on personnel policies, benefits, worker's compensation, sick leave, vacation leave, FMLA, crisis leave, HIPAA, blood borne pathogen, safety assessment training, services available to UNMC Employees as well as, initiatives related to UNMC's mission and vision.
