Alzheimer Disease Studies

The UNMC Department of Psychiatry is conducting a number of research studies using investigational medications for individuals with Alzheimer Disease.

Study 1: This study is evaluating the safety and efficacy of the investigational compound semagacestat (a type of drug called a gamma-secretase inhibitor) for patients diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer disease.

Individuals who are 55 years-of-age and older, are in good general medical health, and have a reliable caregiver that can accompany them for appointments, may be eligible to participate. If the individual is currently taking medication for the treatment of Alzheimer disease, it may be continued during the study.

Future Studies:

We have also recently been selected to participate as a site in the NIH-sponsored, Alzheimer Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS) and expect to be able to update on potential studies sponsored by that group in the near future.  For more information on the ADCS: http://www.adcs.org/
