Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Boust is Associate Professor in the UNMC Department of Psychiatry.

She has worked in the department of psychiatry since 1989.  Her career has focused on the community care of persons with severe and persistent mental illness. For three years she was the mental health clinical leader for behavioral health for the state of Nebraska, and since 1998 she has been the psychiatrist for an Assertive Community Treatment team (ACT team) in Omaha. This team provides community care to persons with schizophrenia and other serious mental disorders who have failed at all previous community care. She has been a consultant to the state of Florida as they developed ACT services statewide.

Dr. Boust has also worked with the state of Nebraska for several years in designing legislation that will move services from state hospitals to local communities. This work has been done in conjunction with the Nebraska Medical Association, the Metro Omaha Medical Society and the Nebraska Psychiatric Society. In 1999, she was named the Nebraska Psychiatrist of the Year by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

Dr. Boust is committed to improving the quality and availability of behavioral health care in all areas of Nebraska.  Her interests have included development of community-based participatory research, workforce analysis, retention of a quality workforce, effective use of telecommunications to improve outreach, curriculum development, and quality improvement activities.
