Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Burke is the Anna O. Stake Professor of Psychiatry, Vice-Chair for Research of the Department of Psychiatry and the Director of the Psychopharmacology Research Consortium at UNMC. He is a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist who completed additional post-graduate training at the Alzheimer Disease Research Center at Washington University, St. Louis while also studying psychiatric epidemiology.

Dr. Burke has extensive experience in clinical trials and his research interests include evaluation of potential new treatments for Alzheimer disease, delirium and depression. His current National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) funded research is evaluating whether depression can be prevented in patients being treated for cancer of the head and neck.

He is a fellow of the American Geriatric Society and the American Psychiatric Association. He has over 250 publications including scientific articles, book chapters and abstracts. He has extensive editorial experience including being the current editor-in-chief of the IPA Bulletin of the International Psychogeriatric Association. Dr. Burke has been repeatedly cited in "The Best Doctors in America” and “America's Top Doctors” national awards.
