The members of the Division:

  • Provide excellent clinical care in community settings, services include general outpatient psychiatry with complementary psychotherapy or behavioral therapy.

  • Collaborate with the State of Nebraska, professional societies and select research activities to identify and address system needs to improve care

  • Cooperate with the Department of Psychiatry Education Section to develop and provide education to medical students, residents, and the community on evidence-based practices in the care of persons with severe behavioral health problems.

Services are available through routine outpatient appointments at the Adult Clinic.  Also, Department faculty members work with various community non-profit mental health and substance abuse agencies to provide psychiatric services to persons with low income and serious needs. The Department provides faculty members to the Omaha Veterans Affairs Medical Center for clinical work in the inpatient, day hospital and outpatient areas, provides faculty for the Assertive Community Treatment Team, consultation to the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, and uses telemedicine technology to consult with the Norfolk Regional Center.

Division members participate in leadership roles with the Nebraska Psychiatric Society, The Nebraska Medical Association, and the Metropolitan Omaha Medical Society.
