Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Magnuson specializes in geriatric psychiatry and is board certified in both adult and geriatric psychiatry.  He has regularly provided psychiatric services via tele-health for nursing home residents throughout Nebraska since 2004. This service has over 40 sites across the state where patients are seen. With Dr. Brenda Keller of the Geriatric Section of Internal Medicine at UNMC, Dr. Magnuson has developed a web site to provide education and training for long term care workers and administrators: The Long Term Care Mental Health Series.  He and Dr. Keller are currently serving on the American Medical Director’s Association’s committee on the implementation of non-pharmacologic behavioral treatments in long term care facilities.

Dr. Magnuson has received recognition in Best Doctors in America in both 2009-10 and 2010-11. He received the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Chancellor's Golden U Award in 2004. Additionally, he was given teaching awards from the Creighton-Nebraska Psychiatry Residents in 2004-05 and again in 2010-11. He was appointed to the Governor's Nursing Home Advisory Council and has served on the council since 2004.
