Ashish Sharma, MD, currently serves as an assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at UNMC. He received his medical degree from R.N.T Medical College in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India in 1997 and his psychiatry residency training in the Creighton University/UNMC psychiatry residency training program, completing in 2005. He is dual board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Sharma's clinical interests include Consultation/Liaison (C/L) psychiatry, patient-centered primary care, and evidence-based psychiatry. He has a keen interest in medical education and is actively involved in various aspects of the UNMC College of Medicine's psychiatry curriculum. Dr. Sharma's commitment and achievement in medical education has been recognized by his peers who, along with the American Psychiatric Association, have named him a recipient of the "Nancy Roeske Teaching Award" for excellence in medical student education in 2010. Most recently, as a result of an extensive, confidential peer-review process, Dr. Sharma has been included in 2011 Best Doctors. His research interests include psychopharmacology and ethics in clinical research.
He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine.
