Dr. Swanson is Associate Professor and Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  He graduated from the University of Witwatersrand with an M.D. He completed his residency in Psychiatry at Sterkfontein Hospital in Krugersdorp, South Africa and at Tara Hospital in Randburg, South Africa.

Dr. Swanson  also serves as Hospital Service Chief of Psychiatry at the Nebraska Medical Center hospitals. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, American Society for Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Swanson's main interests include Adolescent and Addiction Psychiatry.
