Certificate in Public Health

certificate in public health

The Certificate in Public Health (Cert.PH) offers courses that provide students the knowledge and tools needed to enhance public health practice. The objective of this certificate is to develop new generations of public health-educated professionals, meeting the development needs of personnel in local health departments, health professionals seeking knowledge in public health, potential masters or doctoral students in public health, and non-traditional students not interested in a master’s or doctoral degree but who wish to hold a credential in public health.

The Cert.PH curriculum gives students the skills and knowledge needed for careers in public health. This certificate is designed to meet the needs of those who currently work in public health as well as those who wish to embark on a career in public health. Emphasis is placed on learning in the areas of health behavior, environmental health, biostatistics, epidemiology, administration, and global health. Students who have successfully completed the Cert.PH may be able to apply their course work to a Master of Public Health degree.

The certificate in Public Health can be completed online. For the online option, campus visits are not required at any time. The Certificate in Public Health program consists of 18 credits hours of course work.
