Diana ‘Ariss’ Rogel Mendoza was born and raised in Long Beach, CA of Mexican and Salvadorian parents. She has been an active member of the community since her high school days in Paramount, CA. After finishing her Associates degree at Marymount College in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Ariss decided to continue onto her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). Once at UNO, Diana became the Vice President of the Association of Latino-American Students (ALAS) where she and the leadership rebuilt the organization, attracting more students and committing to various volunteer projects within the Omaha community.
In 2008, Ariss ventured into video projects where she completed a short that documented her study abroad service trip to Lima, Peru offered through the Office of Latino Latin American Students at UNO. You can view the video here.
Ariss has an array of experience working in customer service and quality control within the private sector, which includes positions such as Operations Manager, Performance Analyst, Event Coordinator, and even as a DJ hosting celebrations in both English and Spanish.
Ariss graduated from UNO in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in General Studies and minor in Latino Latin American Studies. Now, she is continuing her education at Bellevue University where she is pursuing a Masters in Public Administration. She is excited to continue her commitment to the Spanish-speaking community with her new position as the Outreach Project Associate at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Public Health, Center for Reducing Health Disparities.
Ariss is the proud mother of a baby girl Malia Estela and of a baby boy who is on the way.
