Community Clinical Research Coordinator
Drissa M. Touré holds a Doctorate of Medicine from the faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry of Mali (West Africa), and Master of Public Health (Maternal and Child Health) from The George Washington University, School of Public Health and Health Services (USA). Currently, he is a PhD student in the Department of Health Promotion, Social and Behavioral Health at the University Of Nebraska College Of Public Health.
Dr. Toure’s professional experience has focused mainly on maternal, newborn, and child health particularly in the context of HIV and tobacco smoke. He currently works for the Center for Reducing Health Disparities (CRHD) as a Community Clinical Research Coordinator. Prior to joining CRHD, he worked at George Washington University, Department of Prevention and Community Health, on a federally funded research program, the NIH DC Initiative to Reduce Infant Mortality in Minority Populations as a Senior Research Associate/ Advisor on pregnant women smoking cessation and infant exposition to Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS) as well as providing support and guidance on broader maternal and reproductive health issues. He provided technical assistance to research assistants and contributed to the development of information, education and communication materials. Dr. Touré has demonstrated a great ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Dr. Toure’s experience as a physician, maternal and child health practitioner and as a father, have enabled him to thoughtfully critique and suggest important contributions to research protocols. Internationally, he has worked with teams developing training curriculum on public health writing and has co-facilitated workshops for country staff in an effort to build in country capacity for writing and documentation. Dr. Touré has expertise in data collection analysis, designing research, and applying the theory and methodology to policy. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing soccer.
