Gail Walling Yanney was born in Chicago and grew up in Nebraska. She is a graduate of Duchesne Academy and the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s college of Medicine. She worked as a respected anesthesiologist and a clinical instructor in the UNMC College of Medicine until her retirement in 1986.
Dr. Yanney served as president of the College of Medicine Alumni Board from 1997 to 1999 and was executive director of the Clarkson Hospital Foundation. She has served on The Nebraska Medical Center board, College of St. Mary’s board, Yanney Heritage Park Foundation in Kearney, Nebraska Audubon’s advisory board, Center for Human Nutrition board, Nebraska Cultural Trust, and the advisory council for the Women’s Fund of Greater Omaha. She serves on the Advisory Board of Eppley Cancer Institute, Nebraskans for Research and the Olsen Center for Women. She co-chaired the 2005-2006 UNO Women’s Walk with her daughter Lisa Roskens. Dr. Yanney has served as the chairman of the Nebraska Arts Council and director of the national Board of Nature Conservancy. She and her husband also serve as chairs on the University of Nebraska Medical Center “Unlimited Possibilities” campaign.
