Biostatistics Department: Consulting CLIENTS: Members of the Biostatistics Department have collaborated and consulted with investigators from virtually every department and unit on the UNMC campus. These activities have covered the gamut of health sciences including: cancer, transplantation, infectious disease, geriatrics, anesthesiology, nursing, dentistry, genetics, endocrinology, pulmonology, and health services research. In addition, the Department is a chief collaborator in the Children's Oncology Group, an NCI-funded cooperative cancer group of over 240 institutions in North America and Australia specializing in the study of pediatric malignancies. Biostatistics Department members direct statistical activities in the Group's research in Soft Tissue Sarcomas, Retinoblastomas, Wilm's Tumors, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and other concerns in pediatric cancer. SERVICES: The Biostatistics Department provides a wide array of services and is best employed during all phases of study conduct. Early involvement produces efficient study design and can help anticipate and avoid many practical obstacles to the conduct of good science:
Monitoring Analysis FEES AND PRIORITIES Brief initial consultations to determine investigator needs are available at no charge. Consultation for grant applications is also freely available when grant support for members of the Biostatistics Department are included in the grant submission. Support agreements with a number of University departments and units are in place, assuring expedited access to consultation services.
