Collaboration on Research Design and Analysis (CCORDA)
The CCORDA seeks to advance clinical, basic, and translational research and public health research at UNMC and in the community and region.

The mission of the CCORDA is to provide expertise in the quantitative sciences, including biostatistics, epidemiology, and health services research, and to coordinate the collaborative design, planning, conduct, analysis and interpretation of laboratory, clinical, and public health research studies. In addition, the center will provide educational training opportunities for quantitative sciences graduate students and educational opportunities for public health, clinical, and translational investigators

Environmental Health and Toxicology
The mission of the University of Nebraska Center for Environmental Health and Toxicology is to develop and coordinate collaborative intercampus, interdisciplinary research programs, outreach and other services that address critical issues in environmental health and toxicology.

The Center focuses on developing collaborative research and outreach programs and obtaining financial support for them. An important aspect of these activities is to continue to identify areas of mutual scientific interest among faculty at UNMC, UNL, the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) and the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK).

Humanities, Ethics and Society
The mission of the CEHS is to provide expertise in ethics, humanities, law, and inter-professionalism through:

  • the implementation of new courses;
  • the training of clinical and academic partners in ethics consultation and the integration of the medical humanities into routine care; and through
  • the expansion of collaborative scholarly projects in ethics, law, humanities, and inter-professionalism.

Health Policy Analysis and Rural Health Research
Faculty and staff of the department conduct research through the following related, but autonomous, research entities:

  • The Nebraska Center for Rural Health Research
  • The RUPRI Center for Rural Health Policy Analysis
  • The RUPRI Great Plains Center for Health Statistics
  • Nebraska Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System

Reducing Health Disparities
The diversity of the U.S. population is one of its fundamental strengths as a nation. Over the last several decades, scientific advances have contributed to improving the health and quality of life of many people in the United States. However, low-income populations, underserved rural populations, and racial and ethnic minority populations have not benefited from these advances and have a higher prevalence and incidence than the population as a whole of illness and death due to cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, infant mortality, and other diseases. As a nation, we must develop strategies and interventions to reduce and ultimately eliminate health disparities among disadvantaged populations.

Rural Health Education Network
RHEN began in the early 1990s with support from the Nebraska Legislature. By partnering with communities across the state, UNMC developed a volunteer faculty network, who serve as preceptors for health profession students. This allows students to receive part of their professional education in sites away from the main UNMC campuses.
At the same time that RHEN was developing, a special initiative, the Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) was beginning as a partnership with Wayne and Chadron State Colleges. RHOP is recognized as a successful program with more than 70 percent of its graduates working in rural communities.

COLLEGE OF PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES

Health Professions Tracking Service
The College of Public Health's Health Professions Tracking Service (HPTS) collects, maintains, and disseminates information on healthcare professionals and their practice locations in Nebraska and Western Iowa. The service functions as a resource for researchers and state and local policy makers and planners to identify shortage areas, meet business needs, and provide contact information used by the State's Health Alert Network.
