Professional Summary

Dr. Fisher is a sexual health behaviorist who has trained with nationally recognized leaders in community-based participatory research (CBPR), sexuality education, sexual health, gender, and human sexuality. His research interests and publications primarily focus on the utilization of CBPR to address sexual health, wellness, and education issues at the individual and community levels. He also has interests in policy implications particularly as they relate to sexuality education for adolescents and the socio-cultural dynamics of human sexuality. His work has and will continue to address ethnically and racially diverse populations of all gender identities and sexual orientations. Dr. Fisher received recognition as an Exemplary Diversity Scholar from the National Center for Institutional Diversity at the University of Michigan in 2009. He currently serves as Programming Co-chair for the APHA Student Assembly and Treasurer for the HIV/AIDS section of APHA.

Courses Taught

Dr. Fisher has taught courses in research and evaluation methods, consumer health, biostatistics, and human sexuality. He looks forward to developing and teaching courses at UNMC in the areas of advanced health behavior theories, community-based participatory research methods, human sexuality, and sexual health research.
