Center for Health Policy faculty research receives national media attention in U.S. News and World Report

Drs. Fernando Wilson, Jim Stimpson, and José A. Pagán garnered national media attention in June 2014 for their study, “Fatal crashes from drivers testing positive for drugs in the U.S., 1993 – 2010.”  The study highlights that approximately 46.5% of all fatal crashes in 2010 involved drugged drivers using prescription drugs.The study goes onto report that since the mid-2000s, prescription drug use among drugged drivers has had the highest increase in prevalence even when compared to the nearly three quarters of drugged drivers using alcohol and cocaine.
