Professional Summary

Dr. Daniel Blanke has served as the Director of the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) in the College of Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha since 1995. The Health Education Program in the School of HPER is one of the founding departments for the joint UNO/UNMC MPH Degree Program which began in 2001. In 2007 he added the responsibility of Chair of the Department of Health Promotion, Social and Behavioral Health in the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Blanke has lead the committee which developed the PhD in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research. He has also been charged with the responsibility of adding five new faculty in Health Promotion to the department. A Biomechanist by training most of Dr. Blanke’s research and grant activity is in this area. He has secured over one million dollars in service contracts with local corporations needing student workers in health promotion.
