The College of Public Health (CoPH) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is accepting applications and nominations for appointment to the Carruth J. Wagner, M.D Endowed Chair in Public Health. The position may focus in one or more of the following areas: health services research/administration/policy; biostatistics; epidemiology; environmental, agricultural and occupational health; health promotion and disease prevention. The successful candidate will have a well-established scholarly record, provide leadership for major research activity, and contribute to College educational programs including the Master of Public Health program and Ph.D. programs in health services research/administration, health promotion and disease prevention research, and/or environmental health, occupational health and toxicology. This is a tenure eligible position.

Research collaboration, as appropriate to the disciplinary interests of the person appointed to the endowed chair, is possible with the following: faculty in the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dentistry at UNMC; the Veterans Health Administration Medical Center; health informatics faculty in the Peter W. Kiewit Institute at UNMC and the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO); faculty at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) in public administration, business, health education, biomechanics and others; faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in natural resources, food science and technology, and others. Collaborative opportunities exist resulting from relationships between the CoPH and local health care systems, insurers, corporations, and the Nebraska Health and Human Services System. Omaha is home to major medical centers, large regional and national health insurance firms, and a progressive business sector that includes the international headquarters of firms including Gallup, Union Pacific, ConAgra Foods, and Berkshire Hathaway.

The CoPH provides an environment facilitating a growing research enterprise (UNMC campus growth rate in NIH funding has far exceeded federal NIH appropriation growth rate for several years).
