The Center for Reducing Health Disparities hosts a television show which has been
aired on Cox 22 since 2004. The show is a vital part of the information/media network developed to
educate the Latino community on the harmful effects of tobacco use, second hand smoke, and to
improve the Latino community lifestyle.
Antonia Correa, UNMC Community Outreach/Tobacco Prevention Specialist, is the co-host of “La Voz
Latina”, a monthly one hour live show that connects directly to the Spanish-speaking community in
the Omaha Metro and surrounding areas. The format is an educational call-in program that provides
a forum where Latinos can express their opinions and ask questions about health-related topics
addressed during the television show.
