Dr. Siahpush’ past research contribution to public health has mainly been in the field of social determinants of health and tobacco control, as outlined below:

  • Documenting the association between socioeconomic position and smoking.
  • Elucidating the mechanism of the link between social disadvantage and smoking.
  • Investigating the relationship between financial stress, smoking and smoking-induced deprivation.
  • Understanding how smoking is related to health disparities and social inequality.
  • Examining the differential impact of population level interventions on smoking behavior.
