Research Interest:

I have a long standing interest in dementia, particularly Alzheimer disease. We have been involved in more that 30 trials of various compounds being tested for AD and usually have several such studies underway. We are interested in both the cognitive (mainly memory) and behavioral problems that can occur in the disease.

I also have a long standing interest in depression, again particularly with respect to testing new treatments for depression. My current NIH funding is a trial that seeks to prevent depression in patients with head and neck cancer who are being treated for their cancer.
