Clinical Research

Radiology has been involved in a wide variety of research applications including DEXA, Ultrasound, MRI and PET/CT.

Current clinical radiology research interests include neuroimaging conducted by Dr. Matthew White and body imaging studies conducted by Dr. Shahid Hussain supported by a Philips Master Research Agreement.

The radiology department at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is an NIH National Cancer Institute qualified Center of Quantitative Imaging Excellent site (CQIE).  The CQIE program certifies university-imaging programs for participation in multicenter research trials that use quantitative imaging.  The CQIE program establishes benchmarks for quality and consistency in quantitative imaging involving PET, MRI and CT protocols. The requirements were designed to promote standardization and harmonization of imaging data in multicenter clinical trials; this also includes an annual re-evaluation process to qualify scanners and site imaging capabilities.   This designation is recognition of the high quality of medical imaging performed at UNMC and its affiliated institutions.
