The UNMC Student Association for Rural Health, the Rural Health Education Network, and the Nebraska Area Health Education Center Program invite you to attend the Thirteenth Annual SARH Rural Health Career Day at the UNMC campus in Omaha on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. 

Over 200 high schools in a rural community within a three-hour drive of Omaha have been invited to participate in the UNMC Career Day this fall.  This event is an excellent opportunity for counselors, teachers, parents, and students to learn about health profession programs offered through UNMC.

There will be a $10 fee assessed for each student and a $5 fee for each adult.  Due to the large number of schools invited, space will be limited to no more than 10 students per school this year.  

Registration forms must be submitted by the student’s sponsor or chaperone. REGISTRATION DEADLINE is September 4, 2009.

Students can choose 3 of these areas to learn more about:

• Clinical Laboratory Science
• Dentistry / Dental Hygiene
• Medicine
• Medical Nutrition
• Nursing

• Pharmacy
• Physical Therapy
• Physician Assistant
• Public Health
• Radiation Sciences
• Admission to UNK, UNL, & UNO

This program is put together so that high school students can learn about the health profession programs offered through UNMC.  In order to maximize the learning experience that this occasion provides for your students, the event will not be interrupted with campus tours. 

As the Career Day program involves many individuals who also participate in the  campus tours, we recommend that you schedule a tour of the UNMC campus for your students on a different day. To schedule a UNMC campus tour, please click here.

To Register:

1. Download a registration form and give a copy to each student to fill out.  The bottom portion must be signed by a parent/guardian.

2. Make sure each student form is complete.  Incomplete forms will not be accepted. Each student should choose 3 careers they want to learn more about (Make sure they have circled their first choice).

3. Cost $10 per student and a $5 charge for each adult. 

Make payments payable to: UNMC.  Send money orders or checks only.  Please DO NOT SEND CASH! For student fee waivers, please contact our office for approval.  

4. Send all student registrations for your school and complete payment in one package to: UNMC - SARH Rural Health Career Day

Chadron State College, a partner with UNMC in the Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP), also hosts an annual Rural Health Professions Day, which focuses on the recruitment of students from Western Nebraska. The Chadron Health Professions Day will take place at the Chadron State College campus on Wednesday, October 7, 2009.
