As Nebraska’s only public academic health sciences center, The University of Nebraska Medical Center is committed to the education of a 21st century health care work force, to finding cures and treatments for devastating diseases, to providing the best care for patients, and to serving our state and its communities through award-winning outreach. UNMC also is committed to embracing the richness of diversity. UNMC has developed academic affiliations with historically black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving colleges and universities, regional tribal colleges, and rural colleges.
UNMC has six colleges and two institutes, serving more than 3,100 students in more than two dozen programs. In 2009, U.S. News & World Report ranked UNMC’s rural health medicine program 15th and its primary care program 17th. The university’s physician assistant, physical therapy, pharmacy, and nursing programs also were ranked as among the top in the country.
The mission of the University of Nebraska Medical Center is to improve the health of Nebraska through premier educational programs, innovative research, the highest quality patient care, and outreach to underserved populations.

Now in its second century, the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry has a proud history of providing exceptional dental education and service to the community of Lincoln, the state of Nebraska, and the Great Plains region.
Located on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, the college offers training in the D.D.S. program, a B.S. degree in dental hygiene, and postgraduate training in the dental specialties of endodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, and periodontics, as well as a general practice residency. Our D.D.S. classes typically have 45 students. The relatively small class size fosters close interaction among our students and between students and faculty. More than 60 dedicated full-time faculty are involved in our educational and research programs. The UNMC College of Dentistry provides a strong clinical education based on sound scientific research.
National board scores are a measure of the high quality education students receive, and over the past 10 years the UNMC graduating classes have consistently ranked among the highest dental schools in the United States.
