Process for the Transfer of NIH Grants

Because a grant is typically awarded to an institution, rather than an investigator, the institution must review and approve the transfer to the other institution. There are two key parts to the transfer process:

1. Original grantee institution must relinquish their interests and rights to the grant
2. New grantee institution must assume the legal and administrative responsibilities for grant
