Working with stem cells is not a new concept for the faculty of UNMC. In fact, UNMC is home to many researchers who have been studying stem cells prior to their emergence in the spotlight over the last decade. Of interest to scientists are the role stem cells play in the maintenance of cancerous tissue or their ability to cure blood cancers such as leukemia or lymphoma. Researchers and doctors alike have been working to discover the functional capacity of stem cells in disease and therapy.
