Sherman Petite is originally from Natchitoches, La. He graduated from Hill Junior College in Texas with a business administration degree and Wayne State College in Nebraska with a recreation degree. Recently, Sherman received his master's degree in sports administration/management from WSC en route to fulfilling his long-term goal of becoming an owner of an after-school program.
Prior to coming to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Sherman was the Assistant Director of Admissions, recruiting students, leading an on-campus tour guide association, and organizing campus activities dealing with admissions. He also participated in intramurals.
At the Medical Center, Sherman is responsible for coordinating contacts with Nebraska colleges and universities, working with an assortment of organizations in the community and on other college campuses, traveling to college fairs, and other recruitment events, including those of Native American interest, and working closely with the staff and faculty members in several outreach programs, including:
- College of Nursing
- Graduate Studies and Research
- Rural Health Education Network/Rural Health Opportunities Program
- Areas of the School of Allied Health: Physician Assistants, Medical Technology, Clinical Perfusion, Medical Nutrition Education and Radiation Sciences
Sherman is married to Racheall and they have two sons, Christopher and Jared.
