Summer Undergraduate Research Program for Students from Disadvantaged Backgrounds

Want to spend your summer in a state of the art research laboratory as a team member -- using and expanding your scientific knowledge and skills, and learning more about health care/research career options?
Want to see what the competition looks like?
Each summer the University of Nebraska Medical Center research faculty hosts approximately 100 undergraduate students interested in health care/research careers for 9-12 week full-time research placements.
Students receive a stipend, housing, roundtrip airfare, weekly enrichment seminars, and an introduction to an academic health science center.
Selection Requirements:
- Academically talented students interested in pursuing healthcare, science, and/or research careers.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.4 in the sciences.
- U.S. citizen or holding permanent resident visa.
- Background of educational or economic disadvantage.
- Completion of science course(s) beyond general biology or chemistry (e.g., organic chemistry, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, statistics, etc.
