Colon and Rectal Surgery involves the treatment of patients with diseases and disorders affecting the colon, rectum, or anus. These include inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), rectal prolapse and incontinence, colorectal cancer, polyp disorders, and common anorectal conditions such as hemorrhoids - many procedures can be performed laparoscopically.
This specialty area is staffed by specialty trained and board certified General Surgeons. Clinic is held in the UNMC Physician's Surgery clinic located on the 5th floor of the Durham Outpatient Center.
