An undescended testicle is a testicle that does not descend into the scrotum before birth, but instead stops along the path or may even travel outside the normal pathway between the kidney and the scrotum.

Why treatment is necessary:

  • Decreased sperm production
  • Increased cancer risk
  • Possible herniation

Treatment modality

  • Surgery

Following surgery

  • Pain medication will be prescribed by your physician.
  • Return to normal activity in four to six weeks.Stitches will dissolve in seven to ten days.

Concerns that should be addressed at once:

  • Constant crying - in a young child
  • Drainage from the incision
  • Temperature of 101.5º or greater
  • Redness or warmth of the incision
