Bowel Prep & Diet Instructions

Pre-surgical diet and bowel prep instructions to be utilized the day before surgery to minimize the amount of stool present in the bowels. 

Patients of Dr. FELONEY will be asked to follow the BOWEL PREP detailed below: 

1. Begin a clear liquid diet the day before surgery.
2. Begin drinking Try-Lite Bowel Prep at 12:00 p.m. the day before surgery.
3. NOTHING to eat or drink after Midnight.
*A prescription for the Try-Lite bowel prep should be given to you.

Patients of Dr. FELONEY will be asked to follow the CLEAR LIQUID DIET detailed below: 

A clear liquid diet consists of any liquid that you can see through.  Clear liquids include: coffee, tea, and soda.  Other examples include: juice, beef and/or chicken broth, popsicles and jello.

Patients of Dr. LAGRANGE will be asked to follow the prep detailed below: 

It is necessary to maintain a clear liquid diet the day prior to your surgery.  (Do not eat or drink anything after midnight, unless you have been instructed to take certain medications the morning of surgery.) 

Some examples of clear liquids include:

  • 7-Up, apple juice 
  • Broth (chicken or beef)
  • Jello – with nothing added
  • Tea and Coffee - with nothing added
  • Popsicles

Begin at 12:00 Noon
Drink two bottles of Magnesium Citrate (this can be purchased-over-the-counter).  Stay close to a bathroom for the remainder of the day.  If vomiting should occur after taking the Magnesium Citrate, please call the office immediately at 402-559-4292.  If after hours, please call 402-559-4000 and have the on-call physician paged.
