Dr. Carlos Villanueva joined the Division of Urologic Surgery as an Assistant Professor on July 15, 2013, following completion of a two year Pediatric Urology fellowship at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Villanueva's focus is complex genitourinary reconstruction for congenital urologic problems in pediatric and adult patients. He received special training during his fellowship on advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery for genitourinary reconstruction in patients with spina bifida as well as penile reconstruction after multiple failed hypospadias surgeries.

One of his research interests is the participation in multicenter clinical trials aimed at answering in a definitive fashion questions relevant to the patients with congenital genitourinary problems.

Both he and his family are happy to be back in Omaha.
