Step 1
Applications are to be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and must be received by September 30.
Interviews are granted on the basis of STEP 1 exam scores, letters of recommendation, and scholastic performance. Prior research experience and publications greatly enhance the strength of the application.
PLEASE NOTE:
Regulations dictate that only J and H visas are acceptable. The University of Nebraska is not allowed to sponsor visas.
Step 2
Interviewees will meet with and be evaluated by University full-time and volunteer faculty. They will also meet with current residents. Interviews will be conducted for invitees only on the following Saturdays: TBA. Raw scores will be reviewed, along with appropriate integration of factual and interview information, yielding a resident candidate rank list to be submitted to the American Urologic Association (AUA) Resident Match Program. AUA ID#00923346.
Two residents will be selected each year via the computerized matching system.
Selection of residents is made without regard to race, gender, religion, or creed.
Step 3
Residents must also participate in the National Resident Matching Program to cement a reserved General Surgery residency slot.

Resident duty hours and on-call policy
Duty hours are defined as all clinical and academic activities related to the residency program, i.e., inpatient and outpatient patient care, administrative responsibilities related to patient care, the provision for transfer of patient care, time spent in-house during call activities, and all scheduled academic activities, such as conferences and mandatory meetings. Duty hours will be limited to 80 hours per week, averaged over a four-week period. The residents will be provided one full day, out of seven days, free from all educational and clinical responsibilities - during the average week. One day is defined as a continuous 24-hour period. The average week starts on Monday and ends the following Sunday.
On-call responsibility for Urologic Surgery residents is at-home call - taking call from outside the assigned institution. Residents take call no more than three consecutive days during the average week. Adequate time for rest and personal activities - a ten-hour period between all daily duty periods - will be provided.
