UNMC will evaluate each potential applicant and be responsible for the selection process in collaboration with Chinese universities and the CSC. The students will be critically evaluated and selected for their scientific backgrounds and language abilities required to study at UNMC, such as a reasonable TOEFL, GRE and WSK (National Foreign Language Test for Studying Overseas set by CSC) scores.
During the period of 2007 to 2011, the application form should be submitted to the graduate school of the student’s Chinese university before the end of each February. The application should include the documents required for the joint-training students or degree-seeking students respectively, such as an agreement between the applicants and the Chinese advisor, a joint-training plan designed by the advisors from both sides, or the official admission paper with tuition waver of UNMC, and the invitation letter from UNMC. The students will be qualified by Chinese universities and recommended to the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) by March of each year.
Applications for the scholarship will be evaluated and approved by CSC. The final results will be officially issued sometime in the month of June.

Degree-Seeking Program - Application Process:

TRANSCRIPTS If your official transcripts or mark sheets of college level work are in a language other than English, a certified English translation must be included. Transcripts must carry the signature of a responsible official in which the work was done and the seal of that institution, or must be certified true copies of the original records. If photostatic copies are provided, the copies must be certified after duplication as true copies of the original document. Transcripts should clearly indicate the grades received or the standing attained on required examinations. If transcripts do not show the degree earned and the date on which it was conferred, official degree statements must also be provided. If the official degree statement is in a language other than English, a certified English translation must be included with the certification being provided after their duplication.
TOEFL AND GRE SCORES Applicants from foreign countries where English is not the primary language must present official scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and official scores on the Graduate Record Examination. A score of at least 550 on the paper-based TOEFL, 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, or 80 on the internet-based TOEFL is required. Scores on the General Test and any appropriate Advanced Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) must reach the Graduate Studies Office before the application can be considered. Official score reports from the Educational Testing Service are required. Photocopies will not be accepted. Under no circumstances will we accept GRE scores that are more than three years old. Computer-based scores from the People's Republic of China (including Hong Kong), Korea, and Taiwan will not be accepted if taken prior to July 2003. Foreign students admitted for graduate study on the basis of undergraduate work completed in a college or university in which instruction is in a language other than English will be required to demonstrate acceptable proficiency in English before they will be eligible for admission to candidacy for a MasterÕs degree or for approval of their program of studies for the Ph.D. degree. The institutional code for the University of Nebraska Medical Center is 6896.
FOREIGN STUDENT DATA SHEET This form will not be required until an applicant is accepted into a graduate program.
