Dillard University
Dillard University is a coeducational private, historically black, faith
based liberal arts institution in New Orleans, La. UNMC and Dillard
completed their affiliation agreement in 2001. As a result of this
affiliation, 11 students have participated in summer undergraduate
research experiences (5 in 2002, 6 in 2003 and 10 in 2004). Several of
the students have returned to UNMC for a second and third summer in
their research laboratories. Two of the students have presented their
research posters at a national conference, and one is listed as a
co-author on a research article.
Fort Lewis College
Fort Lewis College is a public liberal arts and sciences college in
Durango, Colo., which has a 17 percent Native American student
enrollment. UNMC completed an affiliation agreement with Fort Lewis
College in 2002. As a result of this affiliation, 2 students have
participated in summer undergraduate research experiences (1 in 2003, 1
in 2004). In 2003, UNMC personnel worked with Fort Lewis College
faculty to submit a Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) grant
which provides funding for minority students to participate in summer
research learning experiences at their home campus and at UNMC. The
grant was funded and the first MARC students from Fort Lewis College
arrived at UNMC for their summer undergraduate research experience in summer
2005.
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is a public historically Black
university located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. UNMC and UAPB completed
their affiliation agreement in 2003. In 2004, UNMC assisted UAPB
faculty in submitting to the National Science Foundation a STEM Summer
Academy application which was subsequently funded.
Spelman College and
Morehouse College
UNMC currently is discussing partnerships with these colleges, both
located in Atlanta, Ga. |
