When should you contact us?
We encourage you to contact us as soon as possible if you consider treatment at The Nebraska Medical Center. Response has been exceptional and we are booking surgery dates approximately 3 to 4 months in advance.
How far in advance is surgery scheduled?
We may schedule by the next available appointment or if wish to come at a specific time of the year, we may be able to accommodate your desired time period. Now, surgical appointments are being scheduled three to four months in advance.
How far in advance must you to book airline reservations?
Often, the most economical manner is usually to make travel reservations as far in advance as possible.
Where will you stay? 
Accommodations are usually available the Lied Transplant Center right here at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The patient rooms at the Lied Transplant Center are designed like a hotel suite. A bedroom and sitting room are equipped with two televisions with VCRs, personal refrigerators with microwave and coffee service make your stay a bit more like home. Two beds (one double and one single located in the bedroom area and a hide-a-bed can accommodate up to four people in one suite. A writing desk, personal safe and daily hospitality service contribute to making your stay as comfortable as possible. A concierge is available for your assistance.
This surgery is considered an outpatient procedure; however, we require that you stay on hospital property until released from Dr. Nystrom’s care. You generally do not need post-operative nursing care as in a hospital setting.
