Records contain information relating to the operation of the university and/or the interests of people employed by, enrolled at, or otherwise associated with the University. Retaining these records is vitally important, as they provide documentation UNMC has followed all policies and procedures, spent funds appropriately, and protected employees’ and students’ rights. Records may be in any form:
- Paper (handwritten and typed)
- Electronic (emails, e-documents, SAP, etc.)
- Media (pictures, videos, sound bites)
The university has established record retention schedules for different types of records. The schedule lists the type of record, the repository, and the minimum amount of time the record must be kept. View the record retention schedule.
