More than a dozen areas are taking part in the Library & Partners Open House, all with the goal of helping you connect with people who can help you bring your ideas into reality.

Academic Success Office
The Office of Academic Success provides tools, trainings, and services to enhance the academic success of all UNMC students. Areas of emphasis include UNMC-wide New Student Orientation, e-learning modules that develop tailored study strategies, and one-on-one peer support.
Campus Wellness Team
The UNMC Campus Wellness Team provides activities, programs, and workshops centered on student wellness. Three Reflection Rooms are located in the library and offer an atmosphere of relaxation or meditation in order to help promote positive wellness. Two massage chairs are also available.
Central Scheduling Office (CSO)
The CSO offers resources for students, faculty, and staff to reserve available spaces across the UNMC campus through the EMS scheduling software. The CSO webpage offers information on scheduling study spaces, requesting spaces for meeting and events, and room capacities and space guidelines. Staff will be onsite during the Open House to answer any questions you may have.
Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Scan Lab
The DMS Scan Lab allows sonography students the opportunity to practice and refine their scanning skills in a safe environment under the supervision of an experienced sonographer. Scanning phantoms, standardized patients, and a variety of ultrasound equipment are used to maximize the learning environment. Distance technology allows live instruction to distance sites.
Faculty Commons
Faculty Commons is a dedicated space for faculty members where they can test ideas, ask questions, check out resources, become inspired, or focus on writing and teaching projects — plus, the area offers an inviting atmosphere to engage with colleagues over coffee or have a quiet place to work away from your normal area.

Faculty Commons: Faculty Development
The Office of Faculty Development aims to enhance our diverse faculty's skills in clinical and classroom teaching, research, leadership and scholarship. We provide faculty with the tools needed to navigate a successful career at UNMC. To meet the ever-evolving needs of faculty, we offer a broad array of programming, including trainings, workshops, and coaching and leadership programs. We have trained staff who can meet with you to discuss teaching-related topics like teaching strategies, course design, and technology options. -
Faculty Commons: IAE
A community created by educators for educators, the Interprofessional Academy of Educators (IAE) provides you with the support you need to become an effective teacher and educational scholar. They do this by promoting the use of education best practices, fostering and disseminating educational research and innovation, and mentoring early career faculty and preceptors. -
Faculty Commons: IT Academic Technologies
IT Academic Technologies has a “drop-in” consultation space for faculty to informally consult, strategize, and design new blended learning experiences with our experts. Consultations are available for a variety of software including, but not limited to, institutional tools of Canvas LMS, Echo 360 ALP, Poll Everywhere, Turnitin, Canvas Catalog, and Zoom. IT Academic Technologies will also be demonstrating in classroom 6032 to guide you through hands-on use of technology in the classroom. This room has similar capabilities to classrooms on campus, so it is a space to practice!

E-Learning Lab
The E-Learning Lab provides the campus community with the resources needed to create multimedia projects. The lab includes an audio recording booth, computers with a variety of software including Articulate Storyline 3 and Camtasia. PC laptops, a variety of video and still cameras, and more are also available for checkout. The lab is staffed with the Office of E-Learning expert team of Instructional Designers and Technologists.
EZStudio
The EZStudio, administered by the Office of E-Learning, is a simplified video recording setup that allows users to easily create videos. You don’t need to have any previous recording experience. The equipment is already set up and configured ... all you need to do is record! The EZStudio includes a video camera, ceiling-mounted lights, microphone, presentation monitor, green screen, and a light board.
Inclusion Corner
The Inclusion Corner by the Office of Diversity is a place for UNMC students, staff, and faculty to share inclusive dialogue and to demonstrate that UNMC is a place where everyone belongs.
Maker Studio
The Jim and Karen Linder Maker Studio is a place for UNMC students, faculty, and staff to experiment, build, prototype, and be creative. The space is outfitted 3D printers, a 3D scanner, specialty cameras, a media preservation station, and other technology and materials to inspire creativity.
McGoogan Library
The McGoogan Library provides support for UNMC academic, research, and patient care programs. We offer 24/7 access to inclusive and flexible library spaces, access to online journal and database platforms, and services to help you be successful in your education and research.
Special Collections & Archives
The Special Collections & Archives is a service for UNMC students, faculty, staff, and the community to research, preserve, and discover the history of UNMC and health sciences in Nebraska. The space includes archival art and artifact storage, two rare book rooms, and a reading room for onsite access and research. Collections are also accessible online.
Virtual Education Radiation Therapy (VERT) Suite
The VERT is a virtual learning environment where radiation therapy students and medial physics residents can practice and learn how to deliver simulated radiation therapy treatments in a safe, non-threatening space. Psychomotor and critical thinking skills can be learned before a student enters clinical practice. This allows students to enter the patient care setting confident and competent.
Writing Center @ UNMC
The Writing Center @ UNMC offers free one-on-one consultations with trained advisors to all UNMC students, faculty, and staff to help improve writing abilities, critical thinking and productive reading skills, and effective communication. The Writing Center @ UNMC is staffed by consultants from the University of Nebraska Omaha Writing Center. Make an appoint for an online consultation.
