Mentoring Awards

We strongly believe in giving mentors the recognition they deserve. That's why there are several mentoring awards presented.

Faculty Awards  Inspirational Mentor of Educators Award

The Academic Affairs Inspirational Mentor of Educators Award recognizes an individual who has mentored and sponsored junior faculty or trainees at the local, regional, or national level including a consistent track record of fostering and mentoring future educators either locally or through working with regional or national organizations or in mentoring publications or educational programs.

Faculty Awards  UNMC Outstanding Faculty Mentor of Graduate Students Award

Because of the profound effects of mentors on graduate students, the Faculty Senate established the UNMC Outstanding Faculty Mentor of Graduate Students Award to recognize faculty who exemplify excellence in the mentoring of graduate students. In doing so, UNMC wishes to honor these individuals to provide models for other faculty to emulate.

Faculty Awards  UNMC Outstanding Faculty Mentor of Junior Faculty Award

The Faculty Senate established the UNMC Outstanding Faculty Mentor of Junior Faculty Award to recognize senior faculty mentors who have served as mentors. Full-time faculty mentors at the associate or professor rank are eligible to be nominated by junior faculty. Deans, chairs, and departmental leaders whose job requires them to mentor junior faculty are ineligible for the award.

Faculty Awards  Donna Westmoreland Excellence in Faculty Mentoring Award 

The College of Nursing annually awards the Donna Westmoreland Excellence in Faculty Mentoring Award to a current full-time faculty member who demonstrates excellence in mentoring faculty or graduate assistants in teaching or teaching scholarship. Deadline each year is March 15.

Faculty Awards  Student Senate Distinguished Mentor Award

The Student Senate annually awards the Student Senate Distinguished Mentor Award to recognize a faculty member for exemplary support in the development of their students. Full-time or part-time faculty members currently affiliated with UNMC are eligible and nominations are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
