As part of the Open Pathway 10-Year Cycle, UNMC is scheduled to complete its Year 4 Assurance Review in June 2021. The Year 4 Assurance Review is a mid-point milestone that requires UNMC to electronically submit an assurance argument which will be virtually reviewed by a team of peer reviewers appointed by the HLC. Once the review is completed, the peer review team may recommend additional follow-up reports, monitoring, or corrective action.
The assurance argument must address and provide evidence of compliance for the following core criteria:
- Integrity: Ethical and Responsible Conduct
- Teaching and Learning: Quality, Resources, and Support
- Teaching and Learning: Evaluation and Improvement
- Resources, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness
Each of the criteria has Core Components and sub-components. For a full description of the current HLC Criteria, please visit the HLC website.
UNMC Y4 Criterion Committees
In preparation for this accreditation milestone, the Office of Accreditation and Assessment formed the Y4 Criterion Committees, one committee assigned to each of the five core criteria. Criterion Committee members (faculty staff and students) provide a valuable service to UNMC through their leadership and engagement in the collection of evidence and the development of the narrative for the Assurance Argument. Members of the each committee were recommended by respective college/unit leadership and based on their knowledge of UNMC and their respective colleges or units, as well as expertise that correlates to HLC core criteria.
