College of Medicine Design Thinking Workshop

June & July 2021 
As part of the Health System Science curriculum, students will be participating in a Design Thinking workshop where the central question will be "How can UNMC/Nebraska Medicine better lead health care workers in Nebraska in transforming lives to create a healthy future for all individuals and communities?" Email us if you are interested in serving as a workshop coach.

Design Thinking Bootcamp

Design Thinking, 2-Part Session

As part of the Breakthrough Thinking Series, a two-part session on Design Thinking was held for the UNMC community. Part 1, "Using Design Thinking to Inspire and Lead through Uncertainty in Education," featured Dr. Kathryn Segovia, an expert from Stanford. Part 2, "Using Design Thinking to Capture Unmet Needs and Desires from the Field to Drive a Program to Success," featured Doug Dietz from GE Healthcare.

This intensive, three-day workshop focused on how to ensure UNMC provides the best dental patient experience in the country for people with disabilities. It was led by Dr. Kathryn Segovia, Head of Learning Experience Design at Stanford University, and Doug Dietz, Principal Design Thinker at GE Healthcare.

Design Thinking Bootcamp

This intensive, three-day workshop was co-sponsored by Academic Affairs, Faculty Development, and the Interprofessional Academy of Educators. It focused on how to improve the entire experience for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at UNMC's Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI).

Design Thinking 101

This hands-on, design thinking workshop was led by Faculty Development and helped attendees retool how they challenge assumptions and amplify ideas. A special session was also held in Kearney on Oct. 4, 2019.
