Once accepted into the UNMC High School Alliance program, the high school student will be able to interact with a variety of professional students on the UNMC campus. Students and student interest groups from the Colleges of Allied Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Graduate Studies assist with the program's course work throughout the year.
UNMC High School Alliance students and UNMC professional students will have an opportunity to participate in the Mentor/Mentee Lunch and Learn series offered throughout the school year. The High School Alliance students and the professional students meet for lunch on campus and learn about a variety of topics related to healthcare professions.
The UNMC High School Alliance students are on campus from 1-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Most of the students drive themselves to campus, and therefore have the flexibility to meet before or after class. Fridays are designated “focus days” where students will job shadow, work on group projects, or hear from guest speakers. Fridays are a good opportunity for mentors and mentees to meet, but it’s best to check with the students in advance.
