Length of Program:

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at UNMC is challenging, but very rewarding. DMS students spend 40 hours per week training, including 10 hours of didactic training and 30 hours of clinical training. Part of the clinical experience involves early morning and evening rotations. The comprehensive, competency-based curriculum offers the student a variety of learning opportunities and clinical experiences to prepare them for a career as a diagnostic medical sonographer.

Degree Requirements:

Required courses totaling 40 semester hours are completed as part of a 12-month curriculum. All required courses must be completed with a minimum passing grade of 70%, unless specified otherwise in the syllabus, to meet graduation requirements. A minimum total of 120 semester credit hours is required for the Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging and Therapeutic Sciences degree, and completion of the 40 semester hours in Diagnostic Medical Sonography for the Post-Baccalaureate Professional Certificate.
